Revolution 8

After not having been to a party nearly all quarter, I was definitely psyched to start off my break from school with a Hardstylerz USA party. The venues those guys pick, and the lineups they put together, are always very conducive to a great party experience. Not once have I ever had a bad experience at a Revolution party, even when the crowd is smaller than expected. To anyone looking for a good New York party experience, I would definitely recommend checking out Hardstylerz USA and what they do.

A good majority of my party crowd decided to go to a different party that was happening at the same time, so upon arrival the dance floor was considerably empty and I was very much alone. However if there is one thing I can vouch for above all else, it is that in this scene you are never alone. It did not take me very long at all to run into several handfuls of people that adored me, and many more who always put a smile on my face to see. On the con side, the empty dance floor had me concerned that the crowd would have been unmotivated. On the pro side, there was plenty of room to crack sticks or otherwise dance. Personally, I find that sharing in a dance circle with friends is one of the most welcoming and heartwarming things that could be done upon first entering the party, so I immediately gathered some people and tore it up. The music was bumping, the people were jumping, and everybody was having a blast! All good vibes.

As far as the venue itself, the acoustics were brilliant compared to most clubs parties are held at these days. It was very spacious and accommodating for dancing, stringing, cuddling, you name it! Everybody had enough room to be him or herself. This was particularly enjoyable to me as a stringer, because often at these venues there is not enough room to spin without risking hitting somebody, and that is just no bueno. On one side of the dancefloor was a slightly elevated section (perhaps by 4 inches, but defintely paled in comparison to the stage) with nice carpeting, and couches aligned across the wall. I quickly claimed my section of the area, along with a few other GSC members, and for the most part we had a very lovely place to dance where we could intermingle with the crowd, without getting in the way of the mosh. It is not too often we come across a venue this sweet! I hope we get to see it in use more often. Security was also very on point. Not too all over everybody, but definitely doing what they needed to do to keep a healthy and safe environment for the evening.

The DJs that I was looking forward to seeing did not disappoint, and they never do. In fact, the only thing that stood out to me was not hearing "Recession" by The Prophet. John Bas is known to spin that song live, although I gave him much respect for not dropping it and still playing an awesome set. All of the sets were particularly awesome, the crowd did not stop dancing once during the whole night!

A lot of times, a productions company can go really hard to put together a great party, and it will still flop because the crowd is terrible. This was most definitely not the case tonight. Many New Yorkers like to claim that PLUR is dead, but at Revolution 8 it was very much alive. As many people as there were dancing and into their own things, I talked to just about each and every one of them, all with bright smiling faces ready to welcome you into the group. Others were simply sitting around chatting, enjoying the atmosphere. Many kandi trades occured, and many new friends were made. A great success if I've ever seen one. Many parties lately have been failing because of an unhappy crowd, or the cops just shot it down because a few punk kids out side get unruly. Hardstylerz USA seemed to have everything under control though. The people were all visibly pleased, and any problems were handled immediately.

Sometimes when I go to a party I can tell there are some people who just really needed to get out that night. Tonight it was me, and going to Revolution was definitely a great choice. There is nothing like a good party to shoo the stresses of FInals Week away, and it is the one place where I know I can always go to see great people and feel nothing but good vibes! Awesome job Hardstylerz USA, and thank you everyone in GSC who came out as well! It was a lovely way to kick off a holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

Yeah totally! NY is definitely win. I've been to FL a few times, never to a party though. Thinking about trying to make it to Ultra.

Thanks for sharing, i'm glad to hear we're alive and well ;P
