MissMercurial 0
So, to start off with, I'm a craftster at heart. I like making things. One of my first loves is beading <3. I've looked into the kandi topics here and notice they're all done with pony beads (the big, chunky plastic things). Now, I've nothing against those things (save for the fact that they're choking hazards and are somehow still used in activities in summer camps) but personally would rather a more...challenging design. That, and I have seed beads to use. If anyone's curious what I'm talking about, some examples: They range from rather simple to a little more complex toABSOLUTELY FUCKING AWESOME. (...Yes, I revel in the irony of linking that particular project in the word "fucking.") So: 1. Has anyone tried making "mini kandi"? I understand it might be more fragile and/or time consuming and/or expensive, but I think the results are very appealing. A little more "street friendly," IMO, because seed beads look classier than pony beads. 2. Is the usage of pony beads a subculture thing - intentional, that is? I get the feeling it is, but the visual part of me bemoans skinny wrists weighed down/encumbered by overly large kandi instead of being shown off with lightweight seed beads. Also, think of how much lighter they'd be to wear 3. Am I the only one who thinks it's a cool idea? IDK about glow-in-the-dark seed beads, but I'm sure they're out there. DISCUSS! (also, first topic I've ever posted on gsc, so please no newb-rape be kind if I've been obnoxious/oblivious ^^; )

Neko86 1
I do like that hello kitty one but the thing is with those little beads, they just don't seem as bright or stand out-ish I think.. Can you get the bright rainbow colours? Maybe even if youbcould, because they are so small the rainbow effect may be lost on it because it would all blend together.. I myself have slender arms too but to me kandii is supposed to be chunky and big and out there, another thought I had (I like to wear as high up my arm I can) is that because they are little beads they would be very tightly woven and the arms would get quite sweaty because they wouldn't be able to breathe? Speaking for rave kandii though, maybe those beads would be better for 'everyday' kandii, I just wear ponies coz I don't have the patience to bead smaller beads but something like that hello kitty one, or maybe the 1up mushroom from Mario or something would be awesome!
