Kandi Tut #2

Recommended Posts

Welcome back! Today we'll be making a cuff with ridges on top and bottom as opposed to flat top/bottomed.. here is the cuff I'll be making in this tutorial:

Now before we start, if you're interested in learning how to make kandi cuffs, refer to my first tutorial http://www.glowsticking.com/forums/Kandi-Tut-1-t18211.html

In the first tut you will learn basic kandi threading, which will be necessary for the piece we'll be making in today's tutorial.

There are a couple simple differences between today's cuff and the flat top/bottomed one. First, the bead count is different.. this cuff is 32 beads around rather than 30 because the original pattern is in multiples of 4, not 3. As it was with the first cuff, if you have a really small wrist just leave off 1 set (making a total of 28 beads around), as well as if you have a larger wrist (36 beads).

Let's begin. First cut off a really long piece of string and make a single kandi with the color scheme BLUE-YELLOW-BLUE-ORANGE. When you tie off this single, just like last time we're going to have the long string coming out of the end bead, in this case ORANGE.

Begin threading a set of BLUE-YELLOW-BLUE through each ORANGE bead all the way around.

You should now have a "double" kandi. As we did with the first cuff, when we finish a row we thread like we normally would (in this case through the ORANGE bead) and then "up the triangle" again so to speak.. in this case through the BLUE-YELLOW:

Now thread BLUE-YELLOW-BLUE through the yellows like this:

When you finish that "row" your cuff should look like this:

Tie off the long string on this side of your cuff and then flip it over and thread BLUE-YELLOW-BLUE through the yellows on the opposing side now, with a string about the size of a single kandi:

Your new cuff is now finished :D

great tutorial! i very good!

though, i might suggest waiting on keep posting these until we get the subforum thing figured out. granted the admins can always move threads, but it might be easier to just post it up later. just a small thought, do what you like ^_^ keep up the awesome work though!

This is the only other one I planned on posting until/if the crafts subforum is created.. just trying to show interest in it. Since I don't have a video camera it's slow work making these tuts so putting a couple up now makes my work easier if/when there's a specific place to put them :) thanks for the support though!

your tutorials are amazing lol.

Thank you ^_^ I find making kandi relaxing in a totally different way than stringing and usually make it when I take a break lol, just want to share another outlet with everyone :)

I think you've got some of the clearest tutorials I've seen posted. Alot of the time I get confused.

You've got clear clean pictures to so in my opinion def. keep posting them =)

Great tut i was making a bunch of kandi today with friends and i was meandering towards this idea but i couldn't get it finished (i tag-teamed on making it with my friend and his part was smaller than mine but oh well)

haha i made a bunch though, especially this pinklemonade looking one that is the same general cuff concept as your tuts but a little different hehe

i'll take some pictures and put them up soon hopefully
