ReDXtC 0
K well since i was able to drive i've always wanted a 240sx w/ the s15 swap on it. I don't know why exactly but i thought everything about htis car was the *stuff*. Now that i'm actually able to afford the car and i found one w/ the engine i want inside of it i'm worried that it wont look the way i want. right now it still has the original face on it and i found a site to get the s15 face but i'm thinking maybe thats not all there is too it. Theres something missing in the puzzle and i don't want my car to b a nissan POS w/ an S15 face. For the 89-93 body style what other than the s15 face makes it look BA from front to back i want it to look something like http://www.body-kitz.com/contents/media/99...ionshowcase.jpg and right now it looks like http://view.admission.net/abc/carsads/_CAR.../h:300/b:DDDDDD pretty much stock. Please help guys. I just want the car to look like i've always wanted but i suck w/ cars

DPan 0
my advice is to join up on whatever the best 240 board is on the net and research from there. There's most likely a top vendor for whatever you are looking for somewhere there and people will be able to direct and help you with what you want.
barcafan84 0
well your talking front and back right, i imagine you didnt know that 240 comes with a round shape body, every 240 youve seen in track races and build up threads are new body kits which you can easily find in any page!!!! this is where to start, to get to understand the potential of your car you need to study history of the car, parts, $ issues, trouble shooters and performance enhancements, no car from 2000 and back is build in a way that's fucking like badass futuristic type, every single car has to be moded b4 it can look badass, from a tail light, to a head light, to a fog light, fenders, hood, bumper, etc. you get the idea, but this requires detail, work and knowledge, plus cash is always an issue!! here are some pages: http://www.andysautosport.com/nissan/1995_1998_240sx/ http://www.body-kitz.com/index1.html?target=d107.html http://www.club240.com/ i personally have a civic which im retarded building it!! and i gotta stop sticking so much cuz im always postponing the build up!!! but good luck with it!! FlowRate 0
Maybe you should throw in a re-enlistment bonus and grab a new beamer while you're at it. Haha. (I do not recommend this)

FoRGoTTeNDeSireS 0
so your looking for a s15 front end on your s13 fastback? my best advice is to look on zilvia.net, but that forum bashes newbs LOL try looking up s15 front end conversion or s13.5 to tell you right now. the conversion isnt cheap and it aint that easy. Lots of custom brackets and mounts are used to make it work right. http://www.360realms.com/S13-S15/ heres a site of somebody that did the conversion. And alot of the 240sx community will bash you for having a stock ka with this kind of conversion on it. But just a heads up LOL

geckogl0w 0
Not bad dude. I love how the 240SX is totally drivable and still so practical as well.
Whiteman 2
What ever you do dont get the sr20det swap. its only2.0. stick with the ka motor. its 2.4 liter. just through a turbo on it and you'll get more power from it. the only thing that the sr 20 has over the ks is that it is an aluminum block making it lighter. Using only the information you provided there... to me it's like saying "don't swap xxxx out for the 2JZ, xxxx is 3.5L and the 2JZ is only 3.0L" there's more to look at than just displacement. Agreed. So what if the displacements higher? If you bolt on a turbo to the original ka engine, not only do you have to worry about getting oil and coolant lines attached for the turbo, you also have to worry about the compression ratio. Not saying going ka-t is a horrible idea, but with the money, the best bang for the buck is just to go sr20 now en days. Very easy swap! My friends can put a SR20 in a car in a day. Not completly hooked up though, just engine removed and new engine in. So they can get it in and up and running in 2 days LOL. KA-T? That would take forever sourcing parts and tapping lines. Kuro 0
"There's no replacement for displacement" is something muscle car people say... but that's cause they're only interested in going in a straight line. The 240 was BORN to go sideways, so many times I'll be reading up a Rally or SuperLap Silvia or 240 and all the time they complain about the oversteer... It's cause it's true, the 240 has oversteer issues that unlike the POrsche, ain't crippling... but instead make it amazing to drift. However enough about that crap you wanna know about the Strawberry face conversion on your S13 right as well as generally making your car look good. So I'll be honest... Lots of fucking work and research. Go to a RELIABLE local car shop that specializes in mods such as those. Specifically you'll be needing a bodyshop that knows how to weld and fabricate well to do that S15 conversion. Don't let anyone fool you, The S13.5 conversion is a lot of work and at least 5-6 thousand dollars out of your pocket, any less and you're getting some unreliable parts. You gotta source everything from the fabrication to the JDM bumper, hood, headlights, turnlights... It goes on dude. About your car not looking as awesome as that show car picture you showed... it's simple really. That car has a full bodykit (a bit flashy for my tastes), fully painted in a sick pearl white and some HP-boosting stickers to go with it! (That's a joke) Just try your best to do research and if you do on on zilvia or any of those websites DO NOT... AND I MEAN THIS DO NOT SAY THAT YOU"RE PLANNING ON ONLY DOING THIS FRONT END CONVERSION. Frankly I don't condone doing this anyway, looks second, performance first, that's my motto. However since you're a fellow GS.Cer... I'll let it slide. Onto the SR VS KA fights... First off... A KA CAN be very cheap... if you're ghetto with it. I've seen a few track cars explode from it though, so I wouldn't advise it much. Frankly ultimately when it comes to why you want to do it... it's simple. KAs CAN make more horsepower for less money, only if you know someone who knows how to work with that motor though. IT IS ULTIMATELY still a truck motor and you making it turbocharged and making 500+ horsepower doesn't matter. The really SICK KA24DETs you hear about are ALWAYS... ALWAYS REBUILT from the GROUND UP. 100% rehaul from cams to caskets to head to fucking EVERYTHING. This is a 10 grand job IN ITSELF NOT COUNTING THE TURBO. SRs however are easy to tune and powerful stock and less of a headaches. KA24DE usually are also high mileage, coming from cars 15-20 years old.. Most SRs you source from Japan are only in the 150 XXX KM range, much better condition and much easier to maintain.. My KA right now is almost pushing the 300 XXX KM mark... I take good care of it (most of the time...) but even soon it's going to die... KA motors just don't last that long... 360 XXX are the longest I've seen or heard of. So what's the morale of this story? It really depends, those sick enough totally go for a rebuilt KA and totally prove to us people with SRs that even though it's a truck motor... KAs can be fast. However I'm not the kind of guy that wants a guy that DOMINATES the whole track. I Just want a daily car that I can enjoy.. .and that I can use to pummel teenagers in their fucking BMW M3s... Neko86 1
hehehe it cracks me up that they are called 240's over there, here they are the 180sx. i dunno what you guys are on about it costing him so much - ive done a few conversion like this and it cost our customers about .. less than 3k id say to do in aussie dollars so in amercian...? we were a panel/drift shop we didnt do the wiring though [staying well away from that hehe] the conversion will cost you less if you are smart about it.. and honestly you really dont need that many brackets/angles etc as has been said its really not that bad... also did you know you can still use the s13 rails to mount the headlights on? you need gaurds bonnet bumper headlights grille... and if you go factory parts yes you will end up paying heaps aftermarket FRP parts are always cheaper and you can get bumper gaurds etc in fibreglass and get either a carbon or fibreglass bonnet you may as well get a full kit all round because it always ends up costing you less than individual components [and a front bar without sideskirts and rear is no good especially if it lowers the line of the car lol] also youre probably looking at a respray red is the hardest colour to match [trust me, so many of my cars have been red] but if you do just a fresh splash of red you can do it boot bonnet closed doors swinging which will save you coz if you go the full respray etc you will have to pay for labour of stripping the car etc and taking the engine out... also im not sure if it hapens over there but if you do some of the prep work yourself it will also lower the price like rubbing it back, removing the rubbers masking it up etc hope this helps a little! ~keni <3 here was 3 of our sponsor cars at a show a few years ago the middle one is the 180 with the strawberry nose
