The Warning

3 posts in this topic

this is my interpretations and thought about a possible, fictional night while using ecstasy. I don't want to hear "oh, you got it all wrong, it's not like that!" cause thats not the point. please enjoy :)

The Warning

The pill touches your tongue,

Dry and bitter,

A sign from your brain

Warning you not to swallow.

The promise of fun overrides all signals,

And with a sip of vodka

You wash it down and begin to wait

For ecstasy.

And so you party with friends and strangers,

Dancing as the music thumps

Repetitive beats,

Lyrical synth,

With lasers flashing,

And soon the drug takes over.

You're in heaven for just that moment,

As life blends together,

Colors and patterns mesh to one

And spectral visions pass before you.

You can't help yourself

As your body temperature rises,

The God-knows-what in your system

Giving you courage to take the leap

And reach out to pull her close,

Her,

The girl you've loved since 5th grade.

She locks her fingers in with yours

And your senses explode,

Shakes swimming through your body

As mini orgasms seize control

At such a simple gesture.

She's always loved you too,

And that little pill

Has finally made it known,

And so this high continues

Before dying in sleep.

You awake at home,

You're head is pounding,

And all you can remember are

Flashes of memories from the night before.

You remember the touch of her skin,

Burning lips on your cheek

And the way she looked as she fell asleep,

Her naked back rising and falling in

Soft moonlight.

But all you have now is a text on your phone,

Reading "it was a mistake,

maybe see you later,"

And you hang your head in shame,

Wishing your courage hadn't been bought

With a pill.

Wow. It's a good poem, and it has a good point. That's something lacking these days. Great work man!

hey, thanks a bunch for taking time to read and comment! here's a revised and final version of it too :)

The Warning

The pill is dry and bitter,

Chalking on your tongue,

A warning sign from your brain

Telling you not to swallow.

The promise of fun overrides

All signals,

And with a sip of vodka

You wash it down,

And begin to wait,

For ecstasy.

And so you party with friends and strangers,

Dancing as the music thumps

Heavy beats pounding your soul,

Lyrical synth singing through,

With lasers flashing overhead,

And soon the drug takes over.

You're in heaven

As life blends together,

The world around you

Spinning together in a kaleidoscopic mess

Of colors and patterns meshing to one

As spectral visions pass before you.

You can't help yourself amidst this bliss

And your body temperature rises,

The God-knows-what that’s taken over

Giving you courage to take the leap

And reach out to pull her close.

Her.

The girl you've loved since 5th grade

With the golden hair and blue eyes,

The one who knows you best of all

Has taken care of you when in need

And never thought to judge.

She locks her fingers together with yours

And your senses explode,

The feeling synthetically enhanced in your blood,

As shakes swim through your body

And mini orgasms seize control,

Flowing through you like a school of fish,

Spreading out to every bit of space.

She's always loved you too,

And that little pill

Has finally made it known.

You have it to give your thanks,

And you do.

And so the high continues

Deep into the night

Before dying in sleep

And clouded by dreams.

You awake at home,

And your head is pounding.

All you can remember are

The flashes of memories from the night before.

Music and movement.

The touch of her skin.

Burning lips on your cheek.

The way she looked as she fell asleep,

Her naked back rising and falling in

Soft moonlight which crest through the window,

Guided by the cool summer’s breeze.

But all you have now is a text on your phone,

“This was a mistake."

And you hang your head in shame,

Wishing your courage hadn't been bought

With a pill.
