yeah, if i'm in provo i'll contact you, and we could work something out... i'm dying to learn handles and try out fire poi! i think the next time i go to BYU will be December or January-ish; i guess we'll see what we could work out.
the gateway IS outside, but the Jam that i organize is actually in the Clark Planetarium; this is actually an astrojax meetup, but it would be cool to get some glowstickers there to. (we usually have some other people who yoyo, luna stix, or diabolo with us.) here's the thing though: our christmas jam is generally for promoting astrojax; this might not be very fun for glowstickers... I think a separate meetup would be better, at least for this case. the trouble there is that it IS freezing cold, so that'll probably have to wait 'till spring.
Just to give you the low down on the AJ community... We're really really small, especially compared to the gs.c community. So what the AJ community needs is promotion, so that's part of what we do at AJ jams is try to promote them, sell them, and get the word out. (we also socialize, exchange tricks, etc) that's what our christmas jam is geared towards, because of the high shopping. Me and a kid named Ferrell (who coincidentally goes to byu also!) organize jams. (He has to work around finals also) I'd like to have a meetup with glowstickers. as soon as the weather warms up again (next year.) maybe even someday a combined meetup with jaxers, and the other contacts i mentioned.
as far as the talent show issue goes... I do shows to promote astrojax, but that also involve me glowsticking. I read the whole topic on this, and it seemed to me that they don't want people showing off with glowsticking, and that it's an art. I TOTALLY agree, however i still like to perform. I try to focus the attention on the Astrojax, and not on me or the glowsticks. I don't know if this is good or bad, or if i'll be cast out of the community but i love glowsticking for the art, and at the same time i love performing. (i'm also in band, and i do promos, so you can see why i like performing.) anyway, if someone disagrees, i'll try to explain it further/better.
okay, just to basically sum up this whole thing; I'd love to have a meetup, but it doesn't seem like the right time of year for it so i'll be looking forward to spring! I hope this all made sense
ps-if any of you Ogden dwellers are still around to read this, speak up! let's try and have a meetup
