Timeline:

11:30. Staff members meet in the middle. We unpack and roll out our banners (4 people required). We divide up groups of ultras to about 6-7 staff members who will distribute to people on GSC.

11:50. We have a few stringers and freehanders crack some ultras to attract some attention and let GSC people know it's nearing time.

11:55 We pass out ultras. We setup the banners.

12:00 we crack ultras.

We will then have a second stage with the rest of the ultras. This year will mostly be all orange.

Organizational/General:
  1. We will do most of the organizing and picking of staff members and members who will help to organize at the pre-EDC meetup.
  2. If you are going to be helping with the ultra circle, please do not be high.
  3. Please donate a few pairs if you can =)
  4. Banned/Suspended members are not allowed.
  5. GXG Members are not allowed (sorry, we have too many GSC heads who want to participate). Last year, we had a seriously cracked out GXG member being belligerent.

Etiquette/Participants:
  1. Please listen to all staff members who are directing the ultra circle.
  2. 1 person at a time, unless you guys actually planned on performing at the same time.
  3. Wait until the person is actually in the process of leaving before cracking. If you accidentally crack your sticks at the same time, please quickly step away and be a good sport about it. I will probably reimburse your sticks if I see you being a good sport.
  4. Stringers, please limit your performance to about 30-60 seconds max. We know you don't get tired. If you tangle your strings, that's your cue to leave. Don't spend 30 seconds untying it.
  5. Stringers, please watch where you are swinging. Keep to the middle.
  6. Freehanders, go from a few easy moves to a hard move. That way you don't keep dropping from the pressure that is the ultra circle. 3-4 drops and then it is probably time to leave.
  7. Please bring your OWN ultras for performing in the actual ultra circle. If i see someone taking it for their own, i WILL ban you. in person. face to face.
Etiquette/Viewers
  1. Please help to maintain the integrity of the circle. Tell people rolling firmly but nicely to please step the fuck back and to sit further back.
  2. Please tell people around you that this is a glowsticking.com event. I will have business cards to pass out at the EDC meetup. This is a perfect time to introduce yourself and to make some new friends. PLEASE be friendly and curteous.
  3. Cheer for everyone! Boo battlers and other negative influences. Please tell banned members and such looking to make trouble to please be nice.

please suggest some more rules if you have participated before and see a need.

Also, if you only spend 30-60 seconds in the Ultra Circle, it is OKAY to go back in at a later time. Just follow the rules and keep it to one person at a time (unless planned like Dave stated.)

With that, also make sure that everyone has a chance to get in, we want this to be an experience for ALL GSCers in attendance, not just a select few people. =]

Great Post Dave! I agree with all the rules. =D

I'm not going to be there, but from previous videos I saw a lot of sticks being tossed around and I've seen past posts about getting hit--especially in the face/head area. So how about no throwing sticks around to be safe?

Oh, PLEASE PLEASE DON'T THROW STICKS IN THE AIR. I got hit in the head TWICE last year and my head swelled up and hurt for the next few days. PLEASE refrain from tossing the sticks. They hurt.

We might also try to repeat this again to people as they're being passed out. It seems that those who do throw them in are random people who happen to chance upon the stick who don't get what the Ultracircle is about.

So, if we get handed two ultras to crack for the circle, and we've been watching for a while, can we jump in for like, 30 seconds then go back to sitting? Or just, if it was given to you, sit down and watch?

Hrm. I don't mind jumping in with weak little yellowish/dead ultras, lol. But I think I get what you mean. If there are sticks still glowing that are laying on the ground, can we pick them up and go it?

And is it only oranges for that first part of the circle?

Javi and I are already talking about doing this...we will practice this at EDC CO and be nice a prepared for the UC

and yeah...i dont think the 'orange only' rule should apply to handles users...color switches look so much prettier with alternating colors

people want to see ultras being cracked... so if you want to jump in when dead sticks, do it near the end. the begining 30 mintues is everyone cracking ultras. i mean seriously, it costs 50 bucks for a ticket... can't spare 4 bucks for 2 pairs of ultras? people cracking other colors don't happen until like 40 minutes into it.

the above i should probably write as etiquette
