How to "DANCE" while glowsticking

Would you like to be known in the gs.c community for a perticular style? Do you want to have more variety when you freehand? You have found the right thread. There has been lots of contraversy and opinions about glowsticking as a dance. People being labeled as "vid stickers" because they dance only for the camera or don't have any footwork whatsoever.

Here's my tips.

First off you gotta feel the music. How would you dance to electronica without glowsticks?
Now think about things you like or tend to do while glowsticking. Blend it.

Transistions are KEY. In order to execute them nicely you have to practice. Practice makes traces, transitions and moves smooth and more appealing to the eye.
Use your previous dance knowledge and bust out.

Q: What if I'm a terrible dancer?
You picked up glowsticking didn't you? You obviously love music and love the vibe, so there is some rhythm in you. Move your feet to what you think is cool. Look at the Old School Stickers like Gio and Yosho, they didn't move their feet much, but they sure looked good. Why? They worked crowds by turning and moving their bodies to the music for the crowds.

I'll use me as an example. I've danced to hip-hop for a long time, so I know lots of hip hop and popping and gliding footwork... thus why I tend to do that. When I glowstick, I trace a lot. So my dance becomes body threading and gliding and emphasized body movements. I can't stand still while glowsticking.

Next tip.
How would you dance in a circle? I'm positive you wouldn't just stand in one spot if you were in a circle. You move, you let the whole crowd see you from every angle. You move to the music and showcase your talents to the crowd.

Things I do with my feet.
-Slide
-Glide
-Turn
-Wave

Things that are considered "dance".
-Body Waves
-Hits
-Spins
-Tuts

Incorperating dance into glowsticking gives you more variety and more style as a sticker.
Go with the music and let it guide you, that's how I've always danced, and I've never danced the same to the same song twice, its about mood, music, and moves.

Happy Dancing!
-RG
